News and events News Alexandra Rose Charity Trustee wins Governance Professional of the Year We’re delighted that one of our Trustees Alison Chan was has been awarded the Governance Professional of the Year Award at the ICSA 2018 Awards held this week on 27th November. Alison has been a Trustee of Alexandra Rose Charity for 2 years, and currently is Chair of the Operations Committee at the charity, bringing a fantastic eye for detail and vision to the role. Following her appointment Alison immediately initiated a full and thorough governance review; assessing the current situation, opportunities for improvement and vision for the future. Since Alison came on board we have grown from supporting families in two locations to six, and now provide our Rose Vouchers for Fruit & Veg to around 900 families each week. The developments in our procedures and governance to make this growth possible was driven by Alison through her ability to translate best practice governance principles into practical tasks that engage the Board and the executive; facilitating the implementation of a systematic programme of improvements. Her expert technical knowledge, extensive network of contacts and generosity with time has made our ambition to develop and expand a reality. Alongside these efforts Alison tirelessly advocates for the charity, and within the last year has personally established many new corporate supporter relationships and professional connections, to help diversify the charity’s income. In recognition of Alison’s leading role in delivering our governance improvements with such a high level of energy and enthusiasm, this award could not be more deserved. Congratulations to Alison from all of the ARC team!
