What we do Where we work Lambeth [PHOTO: Our Royal President HRH Princess Alexandra visiting Brixton Market in Lambeth] The project in Lambeth was set up in 2015 with support from Lambeth Council and the Mayor of London through their Food Flagship Initiative. This project aimed to use the principals of the School Food Plan to take improvements in school food out to the wider food environment. The project works with 12 children’s centres across the borough and in partnership with Brixton Market and an independent market trader in West Norwood. In July 2017 Tina & her husband Ross in West Norwood became the first traders to test our reimbursement app. They very happily offered to be the guinea pigs and helped us identify and iron out any bugs. Tina was over the moon when the app was introduced as it saves her huge amounts of time. "The Rose Vouchers have really impacted positively in my life. I was lonely when I had my baby and didn't have much money, but when I started coming to the Children's Centre, I met friends and the Rose Vouchers helped me financially." Participant from Jubilee Children’s Centre 90% of adults and 95% of children are eating more fresh vegetables In Brixton we work with Brixton Market Traders Federation. Stuart Horwood their CEO has been a passionate advocate for the project right from the beginning. Stuart was recently appointed to the Mayor of London Market’s Board where he will champion the role of street markets in the capital. We’d like to pay tribute to John Tucker who sadly passed away suddenly on the 10th of June 2018. John was the Finance Manager at Brixton Market Traders Federation who supported the administration of the scheme locally over the last few years. He was always incredibly supportive and obliging and will be missed by everyone at Alexandra Rose Charity.
