Why fundraise for us

We have a problem in the UK. The last 30 years has seen a huge rise in dietary related ill-health to the point where it is now the cause of more premature deaths than smoking or alcohol. This has coincided with a dramatic fall in the cost of processed foods that are high in saturated fats, salt and sugar, and a slow but steady rise in the cost of fresh fruit and vegetables.

As unhealthy food is considerably cheaper, those on lower incomes are disproportionally affected by poor access to good quality nutritious food. The consequence of this is these people, and their families, are more likely to suffer from diet related ill-health, with evidence suggesting that by the time children from poorer families reach primary school, many are already obese or have adopted lifestyles that will lead to obesity later in childhood.

How do we help?

The Rose Vouchers for Fruit & Veg project works with traditional street markets and community food projects to put retailers at the heart of the solution. The vouchers are distributed at children’s centres to local families in need, which can be spent on fruit & veg at participating markets.

The positive impact of our project for families is clear:

How can you help?

With your support, we can help more families to access fresh fruit and veg in their communities through our Rose Vouchers for Fruit & Veg Project.

You can make a donation of any amount here.

You could also fundraise for us and set up a fundraising event.
