We’re delighted that two of the Market Teams we work closely with to deliver the Rose Vouchers for Fruit & Veg Project, and one of our Market Traders, have been recognised at this year’s NABMA Market Heroes Awards.

The Judging Panel was overwhelmed by the number of entries and the amazing and often emotional stories of service as market teams and traders supported their local communities.

Market Manager, Dan O’Sullivan and the Hackney Markets, Shop Fronts and Street Trading Team received the ‘Outstanding Achievement Award’, with a particular emphasis made on their commitment to their community and each other during the pandemic. This is especially visible through their support of our Rose Vouchers for Fruit & Veg project, with all their market traders signing up to accept Rose Vouchers since the pandemic began. Over £20,000 worth of vouchers in the last year have been redeemed by families on low-incomes, with traders for fruit & veg, helping them to feed their family healthy and nutritious food.

We’re also so pleased that the Southwark Markets and Street Trading Team have been ‘highly commended’ for their efforts to keep their markets open, despite the challenges this year. When East Street Market temporarily closed during the first lockdown, they prioritised returning those traders who accepted Rose Vouchers because they knew how much local families were reliant on them to feed themselves and their young children.

Harem, from ADAM’s Fresh Fruit stall based on East Street Market was also ‘highly commended’ for the Market Trader award following his dedication to support families in the area to access fresh fruit and veg through the Rose Vouchers project. His positive and welcoming approach is wonderful and makes an enormous difference.

We’re very proud to work with so many wonderful Market Teams and Traders to deliver the Rose Vouchers project, and are delighted their hard work has been recognised with these awards.
