London City Airport Community Fund supports Alexandra Rose Charity

We’re delighted to have been awarded a London City Airport Community Fund grant for our Rose Vouchers for Fruit & Veg Project in Tower Hamlets. This support will enable us to continue to help local families on low incomes to buy fresh fruit & veg every week for their young children.

We’re one of 12 charities working in East London that have received grants of up to £3,000 to build stronger, safer, and healthier communities and raise aspirations of East Londoners.

We see the difference Rose Vouchers make every day in Tower Hamlets in helping to improve access to a healthy diet for hundreds of families. Alicia, a mum from Poplar, told us that she’d been struggling recently and needed to use the foodbank, but Rose Vouchers make her life easier:

“Those little things, like £4 a week just for fruit and veg, are actually big things, and I’m very grateful. Before I had Rose Vouchers, I never really went to the market, but now I go all the time with my son. He’s three years old and can choose what he wants to eat when we’re out shopping. Seeing all the fruit and veg at the market out on display is inspiring and helps encourage us to try different things.”

“There are so many charities and organisations doing amazing work in east London, and we hope this funding continues to make positive contributions to our local community”.

“This grant from London City Airport is a fantastic boost for the Alexandra Rose Charity and its impactful Tower Hamlets Rose Vouchers for Fruit & Veg Project. Thanks to this generous support, we can continue our mission to give families with young children in Tower Hamlets the means to buy fresh fruit and veg and provide their children with the healthiest possible start in life.”
