Job Title: Impact and Evaluation Manager
Location: Hybrid, mainly home based working with a requirement to regularly attend meetings and events (mainly in London but also other project areas elsewhere in the UK) and with occasional visits to the Charity’s offices.
Salary: £38,000 FTE
Hours: Part-time (3 days a week)
We are seeking a passionate Impact and Evaluation Manager to lead our research and evaluation initiatives. This role will play a key part in assessing and enhancing the effectiveness of our projects, strengthening our evaluations by exploring causal links to health outcomes and tracking long-term beneficiary impact beyond their time in the projects.
Working closely with the Head of Advocacy, Impact, and Communications, the Impact and Evaluation Manager will identify gaps in our evidence base, collect compelling data and stories, and help build a strong case for policy change. They will also develop academic partnerships, leveraging existing relationships to enable rigorous research that deepens our understanding of the impact of our work.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain and implement frameworks for evaluating the impact of ARC’s fruit and vegetable voucher schemes.
- Work with local authority funders and partners to develop evaluation tools and methods tailored to target populations, including families with limited English proficiency or from marginalised backgrounds.
- Work with the Head of Advocacy, Impact and Communications to identify and address key knowledge gaps, ensuring we gather the data needed to influence policymakers and stakeholders.
- Lead ARC’s quantitative and qualitative research to measure project outcomes, including nutrition, health, and economic impacts, with support from the Data and Insights Officer.
- Identify and develop strategic partnerships with academic institutions and research organisations to advance our evidence base and secure publications in high-impact journals.
- Collaborate with researchers to design and execute studies that explore the effectiveness and broader implications of ARC’s work.
- Lead the commissioning process for external research, including drafting briefs, managing procurement, and overseeing project delivery.
- Manage relationships with research partners to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
- Translate evidence from our projects to support the fundraising, communications and advocacy functions to produce a range of resources, e.g. policy briefs, infographics, donor proposals and reports.
- Keep abreast of new research and publications on key research themes within the sector, ensuring this is disseminated to relevant staff within the charity.
- Work with the Data and Insights Officer to build the data literacy of ARC teams, empowering them to utilise insights in their work.
- Represent ARC’s research and evaluation work at conferences and other events.
