How Rose Vouchers helped Kimberly’s family

“I’ve used my Children’s Centre for a long time, since my eldest was very young, he’s 14 now. I get so much support there. Sometimes as a family you feel like you’re on your own, but with the Children’s Centre, you have help. They recommended the Rose Vouchers to me for my youngest son who was two years old at the time. He’s just turned four now and we’ve been using them ever since.

To be honest, the Rose Vouchers make a big difference when you’re working on a budget. At least you know you’ve got the vouchers for fruit and veg, so don’t have to worry about spending money you don’t have.

With the vouchers I buy more veg, even though I don’t really like vegetables, I’m now trying to eat more as my youngest son likes his veg. It’s helped change our whole family’s diet.

Lockdown changed everything but the school my children go to, and the Children’s Centre were still there helping, sending food boxes with some fruit and veg. Then I had the vouchers to go to Brixton Market or West Norwood and get the extra things I wanted, like strawberries and grapes.

I have a friend who had to move away from the area, and she wishes she had the same support from a Children’s Centre and the Rose Vouchers. I would like more places and families to be able to have the vouchers.

It’s a deep good thing you are doing, not every family has money to spend on fruit and vegetables, some families only just about have enough to pay for bills. I appreciate every little thing I get, especially because of the Coronavirus. Thank you to you all for helping us.”
