Alexandra Rose has been supporting communities for over a hundred years.
Here are some of our highlights:
1912: Queen Alexandra held the first Rose Day, inspired by a Danish priest, who sold silk roses to support people living in poverty. Volunteers in London sold thousands of silk roses to raise money so hospitals could treat people who couldn’t afford healthcare.
2014: We shifted our focus to tackling food poverty, and Rose Vouchers were born. The first voucher was spent in Hackney, London.
AUGUST 2019: We hosted a reception at Buckingham Palace with our President, Princess Alexandra
MARCH 2020: We navigated delivering Rose Voucher projects during the Covid-19 pandemic
MARCH 2021: Rose Vouchers launched in Glasgow, with support from community food activist, David Cairns
MAY 2022: We launched Rose Vouchers for Fruit & Veg in Tower Hamlets
JAN 2024: We were chosen as a Big Issue Top 100 Changemaker for 2024
