Glasgow

In October 2020 with the support of the Glasgow City Council and David Cairns a community food activist, we were able to bring our Rose Vouchers project to Scotland. We are working with a number of great organisations here; West of Scotland Housing Association, Thriving Places, and Church House Bridgeton, who help us give out the vouchers to families on low incomes in the Calton Area. Families are able to spend their vouchers with market trader Firm Banana at their Bridgeton stall, with an independent greengrocer in Drumchapel and at Ruchazie Pantry.

It’s a real benefit having the vouchers and to see the children trying a good variety of fruit and veg.

We know access to healthy food is a daily struggle for many families and this has only been made more difficult by the pandemic. We hope the project can help address some of these challenges but also support the development of a healthy and sustainable food system in the city.
